Opening hours

The Zeeland Archives branches in Middelburg and Zierikzee can be visited without an appointment during our regular opening hours. If you want to visit our reading room in Terneuzen, however, you will have to make an appointment in advance.

Opening hours exhibition

Come and see our exhibition ‘Ooggetuigen van de slavenhandel’ (‘Eye witnesses of the slave trade’) in Middelburg. You can visit the exhibition free of charge on Monday through Friday between 10:00 and 17:00 hours.

Visit our reading rooms

  • Reading room visitors require a visitor pass. If you do not yet own a visitor pass, please bring a valid form of identification with you, and we will make one for you free of charge.
  • Kindly store your coat and bag in a locker (no charge).
  • If possible, we advise visitors to reserve any materials they would like to see in advance.

  • Wednesday through Friday: 10:00-17:00 hours.
  • Please bring your own laptop, if possible. We only have a few public computers available in our reading room.

Zierikzee

  • Tuesday, Wednesday and Friday: 10:00-17:00 hours.
  • Thursday: 18:00-20:00 hours.
  • In July and August the reading room will be closed on Thursdays.
  • Please bring your own laptop, if possible. We only have a few public computers available in our reading room.

Terneuzen

  • Tuesday and Wednesday: 10:00-16:00 hours. Please note that you can only visit our reading room in Terneuzen by prior appointment.
  • To make an appointment, please send an email to studiezaalterneuzen@zeeuwsarchief.nl. If you want to visit us on Tuesday, make sure your email reaches us before 15:00 hours on Monday. If you want to visit us on Wednesday, make sure your email reaches us before 15:00 hours on Tuesday.
  • Please bring your own laptop, if possible. There are no public computers available.

Make your reservation(s) using MijnStudiezaal. If you want to see a building permit/construction file you can make your request via email (info@zeeuwsarchief.nl). Please mention the date of your intended visit and also the concerned address.

Zierikzee

Make your reservation(s) using MijnStudiezaal. If you want to see a building permit/construction file you can make your request via email (studiezaalzierikzee@zeeuwsarchief.nl). Please mention the date of your intended visit and also the concerned address.

Terneuzen

Please note that in Terneuzen you can only consult materials from the archives of the municipality of Terneuzen, and from the archives of Waterschap Scheldestromen in Zeeuws-Vlaanderen. Make your reservation(s) using MijnStudiezaal, or send an email to studiezaalterneuzen@zeeuwsarchief.nl. If you make your request via email:

  • Please mention the date of your intended visit. If you want to visit us on Tuesday, make sure your email reaches us before 15:00 hours on Monday. If you want to visit us on Wednesday, make sure your email reaches us before 15:00 hours on Tuesday.
  • You will receive a confirmation email.
